We have various Jazz line ups in the same band to suite your needs. The Band can be made up of a Jazz Duo, Jazz Trio, Jazz Quartet or Jazz Quintet depending on whichever Jazz Ensemble you desire.

These consist mainly of Jazz Piano, Jazz Saxophone, Jazz Flute, Jazz Percussion and Jazz Bass.

The Jazz Pianist, the Jazz Drummer, the Jazz Bassist and the Jazz Saxophonist are key members of the band. We network with a Jazz Trumpet Player, a Jazz Guitarist and various other Jazz Musicians to cater for Jazz Ensembles to suite your requirements. All of the key members of the band are Jazz Singers who are highly competent at Vocal Jazz.

The band manager, Barney Pavitt is the lead Jazz Vocalist. He has a repertoire of in excess of 200 songs which range from Jazz to Commercial Music and Party-time Music. Some years ago he owned the Jazz Club, Behind the Moon in Durban where he gained a considerable amount of experience with Audio and Repertoire. The Jazz Band would suddenly transform into a Party Band and so on. This meant that one had to read the audience in order to satisfy their musical tastes.

Our current band has the same capacity even as a music duo or dance trio by the use of self made backing tracks suited to maintain a live feel. These tracks are always on hand to take care of a jazz scene that may suddenly change into a show where an audience may wish to dance.

For this reason our repertoire is divided into three distinct Musical Programs. To find out more about our repertoire and musical selection please click here for our Jazz Overview.

Bass player Raymond Walljee owned Spice ‘n things situated in the basement of the Durban Playhouse precinct. This club catered to all aspects of jazz and funk with many well known musicians having a stint. Featured artists were Sipho Gumede, Busi Mhlongo, Barney Rachabane, Melvin Peters and many others. From time to time international artists like Stevie Wonder and Nathan East visited the club and performed inpromptu for the audience. Diversity was the name of the game as it launched the careers of many artists from jazz to stand-up comedy.

Our keyboard Player Valentia Ferlito is no novice to the industry. Valencia has been around for many years and is the popular choice of fine establishments, local musicians and visiting bands. He has featured in concerts as piano and keyboard player throughout South Africa and abroad. He is normally head hunted by international players because of his versatility and charming personality.
