About Jason 2Ray

Sameer Tooray -- more popularly known as the ultra hip ultra cool DJ Jason 2Ray, was born in the small town of Ladysmith in KZN.

His passion for music led to him following a pathway in becoming one of the most popular, versatile and successful DJ's in Gauteng.

Music being the blood that runs in his veins, it comes as no surprise that DJ Jason knows how to play almost every Indian Classical and Western Musical instrument.

At the sheer age of 17, his ambition got him rocking clubs, when the age restriction was at least 21. Once the crowd got a taste of his skill and his vibe, there was nothing standing in his way. They finally knew what he was all about.

Getting his first taste of vinyl, DJ Jason was hooked and managed to get himself his first pair of Technics SL1200 decks. Talent unleashed -- it was time for this DJ to reach for his dream.

Knowing that there was much more to learn and to grow, he moved to sunny Durban in KZN where his impact would leave a lasting impression. Coming from the small town of Ladysmith, he thought that in the beginning he would have to ask for a chance to prove himself before being allowed to play. But this was not the case. Success followed him naturally as he was snatched up by many clubs, never having to ask for the opportunity as quickly as they came.

His reputation preceding him, DJ Jason 2Ray managed to obtain much envied residencies at Vibe on 222, Monsoon, Axis, H20, Equinox, Fusion Jam Lounge and Bassline to name a few.

In 2002, he was rated third in Technics DMC Scratchmasters South Africa and was later approached by numerous radio stations including Durban’s No. 1 East Coast Radio to do the Live Mixshows. This clinched his experience. – DJ Jason 2Ray recalls this experience as “adventurous and mind blowin”’.

3 years later, he moved on through to the Party Capital of Africa, Johannesburg, where he quickly got hooked up with promoters and got into many clubs as a Resident DJ, namely Stones Melville , Monsoon Lagoon, Cafe Vogue, St Tropez and FTV Sandton.

12 years later, after the beginning of it all, he finds himself involved in remixing and the production of tracks as well as sampling selected radio stations as a Mixshow DJ.

But more importantly, he makes time to help those young and aspiring DJs to be the best they can be and to never give up on their dreams. “As long as you have passion and as long as you enjoy what you're doing success will always follow you”.

DJ Jason 2Ray has an extremely loyal following that flock to the venues wherever he plays... and that , speaks for itself.

The past 14 years have honed his skill and his experience as a talented and versatile Jock but Jason 2Ray continues to expand his talent and showcase and is now part of the most successful event production and promotional company in Gauteng : Digital Chocolate.
