An unlimited vocalist, DJ, writer and MC – DJ ZOTHEA
Hard work, passion, respect = Success
People might guide and help me to reach my destiny, but at the end it's up to me in knowing how far I want to push to reach the top, and by faith.....to the top is where I am heading!
Zola Heather Tserema (Zothea) was born in the early 80's in October 06. She was born in Mafikeng but grew up in Randfontein (Mohlakeng) and Rustenburg (Mogwase). She was raised by her grandmother who saw her potential at a younger age. Zothea got her foundation in music through choral music in primary school. Apart from the more classical influence she listened to a whole lot of the 70's, 80's and 90's music which mostly was South African and international legends and icons who inspired her. ``My grandmother believed that I was born to be in this industry and I am driven by the belief & encouragement that my grandmother showed in me'' says Zothea.
BACKGROUND
She is a singer, songwriter, performer, composer & DJ. In 1999 Zothea took to the stage for the first time as she performed at a beauty pageant in which she shared the stage with Mafikizolo in Mohlakeng (Randfontein). In 2002 she was introduced to dj’ing (disk joking) in which she fell in love with. In the same year 2002 -- 2003 she
collaborated with a group from Westgate called Fine Tunes to do a hip hop and an R&B album. In 2002 she was a member of an Afro Pop group called D.T.Z. After matriculating she moved to Rustenburg where she
auditioned for a leanership in order to study music. She made it out of 500 hopeful youths that auditioned, while studying music she met DJ Hyprosis and the two worked together in an album called K.E.P.T. in 2006.
Gigging Experience
In 2008 she worked with Patrick Mazibuko in her debut album ``No
Strings Attached ''which was never released awaiting for the right time to release it. Because of her gifted, energetic & ability to control & drive the mood of the mob, you will understand why she is called Zothea
the earth moving machine. In 2009 she then focused on performing and
djing. She mixes tribal, vocal, soul and deep house in her hot set. Whenever Zothea is on the discs the earth moves to the beat, the crowds dance and shout for more. With her unique style of mixing tracks, her excellent hand on the discs and her vocal ability she has managed to perform in Mafikeng, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Rustenburg,
Limpopo, Mpumalanga and not planning to stop anytime soon.
She is highly praised by her fellow DJs in the industry both men & women. She has currently recorded a single with The House Fyns called Special Love which is still to be released.
In 2011 she recorded songs with Kyllex Faku (the SAMA award winning
Producer who produced the hit album from the series Yizo Yizo). Zothea is also featured on DJ Bullet's soon to be released album in 2012. Zothea has completed her soon to be released album which she worked with Producer & DJ Jaro from Rustenburg. The album, which is a fusion of Soulful, jazzy & deep house will be titled The Love Dictionary Vol. 1(Pain, Forgiveness & Love). Zothea's mixtape was featured on a
UK radio station in London QH radio alongside DJ Candice McKenzie (UK),
DJ Sue (RSA) & DJ Myrto Joyce (New York). She recently worked with DJ &
