Winter Music Conference, in its 24th consecutive year, is one of the most publicized annual music gatherings in the world. A pivotal platform for advancement of the industry, WMC 2008 attracted 2,211 of the world’s most celebrated artists and DJs, 3,726 industry delegates and over 62,000 event attendees for a concentrated schedule of more than 500 industry events and meetings presented across 5 days. Music, as one of the world’s most accessible art forms, gives WMC the unique ability to cross economic, geographic and social boundaries. Over 1.3 million viewers from 183 countries (out of 192 in the world) logged on to the WMC 2008 website and participants from 70 countries came to Miami Beach to participate in WMC week.

WHEN WAS WMC STARTED
WMC was founded in 1985 by Louis Possenti and Bill Kelly. Louis and Bill have maintained sole ownership and control of WMC for the past 24 years.

WMC 2008 marked the premier of the WMC South Beach Sessions and the 2nd Annual International Record Collectors Show. WMC facilitated first class record dealers, listening stations, and rare and collectable vinyl, making it a huge success. Because of its popularity, WMC will continue the RCS in the years to follow. The first annual WMC Record Collectors Show was sponsored by Waxpoetics Magazine, JBL, and Stanton.
