Who Are We…
DJ Shaun started out back in the day when tapes and vinyl’s were prevalent and nobody had even heard of CD’s. In 1992, whilst in matric, I started an apprenticeship with the legendary Toxic Sun Mobile Discos under the guidance of owner and DJ, Savage.
In 1993, an opportunity arose where a graveyard shift DJ was needed at the famous Masquerade Night Club situated opposite the Carlton Centre in JHB city centre. The rest as they say is history!!! Between 1993 and 1996, I worked my way up to the opening slot and had the pleasure of Deejaying with many well known DJ’s who are still in the industry today. In that time there was also a short lived name change to Genesis Night Club, but I was fortunate enough to play on the closing night of one of JHB’s most famous party institutions, after which I decided to go into the mobile disco industry.
Music
Sound Sensation prides itself on its extensive music catalogue which includes all the hits from the 60’s up to and including all the latest hits of today. Our catalogue of close to 1000 CD’s also spans across most musical genres such as Commercial Hits, 80’s Hits, 90’s Club Classics, House, Electro, Hip Hop, SA House & Kwaito, SA Afrikaans pop, Commercial Rock and Traditional Portuguese.
The 80’s and 90’s classic collections include alot of music that can’t be found in CD stores today. These have been digitally remastered from vinyl and converted to CD for maximum quality. Although we are able too, we DO NOT play music from a laptop! We are old school and although we’d love to play from vinyl, all our music is cut to CD’s with industry standard sound quality.
Lastly, it is important to note that Sound Sensation is licensed with SAMRO (South African Musical Rights Organisation). This means we are allowed to broadcast music to public audiences – A very important aspect when selecting a DJ for your party! License No. – ST 0138323
