Ami-LectriX
About Ami-LectriX
Amanda Erika Aranyosi, a.k.a. Ami-LectriX, was born in Budapest, the beautiful capital of Hungary, on the 4th of February 1980. She lived in Hungary until 1987 and then moved to Austria with her mom and dad for 2 years. The next move was to South Africa in December of 1989.
In April 2007, Amanda graduated with her Oxford Brookes Marketing and Business Management (MBM) BCom degree. She plans on studying further, preferably towards an MBA. In August 2007, her DJ-ing career began! It all started in September of 2006 when she entered an aspiring DJ competition which didn't require any experience whatsoever from the contestants. At that stage, everything was new to Amanda; she hadn't touched DJ-ing equipment or had the know-how. The contestants each had about 2 hours training and then it was show time! The night of Amanda's 30 minute performance is the night that the DJ bug bit her! She set her mind, heart and soul on DJ-ing and making a success of it. Amanda from thereon began obtaining information about the DJ-ing world; she started getting into contact with DJs and promoters. Along the way, she had the opportunity to play around on other DJs' equipment at their homes and studios, as well as play a bit at various venues, thereby having had the opportunity to learn the very basics. In August 2007, Amanda geared up! This surely meant sleepless nights filled with plenty of learning, practice and of course fun. Just 2 months after getting her CD players, she got her very first residency. She played at News Café Meyersdal 3 times a week -- Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. From thereon, there was no stopping for Amanda; the only way was forward and achieving as much as she could with her pure passion, love, dedication and determination. As from April 2008, Amanda is involved in events, which makes her not only a DJ but a promoter as well. To date she has hosted numerous successful parties, with a multitude of DJs, both well-known DJs as well as up-and-coming DJs. Amanda is a strong believer of giving back, thereby offering up and coming DJs the opportunity to play at her events. Just 8 months into Amanda's DJing career, she has started booking DJs to play with her at her events. What an incredible achievement! Amanda often gets asked what advice she has for wanna-be DJs and how to make it in the industry. Her answer to that consists of 2 words -- passion and dedication. Amanda believes that it is possible to achieve anything and make a success of it as long as the 2 main ingredients are passion and
dedication. Amanda cannot express the feeling she gets when she's in the DJ box doing her thing. She says that it is exhilarating when a crowd fills a dance-floor and the party peeps just go crazy. She usually walks away with goose-bumps and says "wow, I was in heaven" -- the sign of an absolutely amazing set!
To see a smile or a simple "thank you" means everything, that's all that is needed to make the night a success and worthwhile, says Amanda. It gives her reason to continue what she is doing, spreading the music and giving back with pure energy, love and passion, both on and off the decks! It can be proudly and loudly said that Amanda has come a long way in a relatively short period of time with great achievements. What Amanda knows today is mainly self-taught through 'trial and error', sleepless nights and constant practice, practice and practice. It surely goes to show that when you set your heart on something, you can achieve it. To date, Amanda has played with top South African DJs in and around the Johannesburg area as well as outside of Johannesburg. Amanda is highly respected in the industry by her fellow DJ colleagues, venue owners, event/party promoters, fans and supporters. Amanda's next few goals include getting into production, releasing an album as well as getting booked to play overseas. She intends on going far and being the best that she can be whilst still remaining the down to earth and friendly person that she is and always has been.
