Jaydon D | DJs | DJ SA

Born 1984 November 30 in the capital city of Mpumalanga, Nelspruit. I grew up in a musical environment and spent many of my earlier years listening to different genres of music. My father being a musician for most of his life, I was bound to develop a love for music.

At the time I was a teenager, there wasn’t much happening then. For this reason, I travelled back and forth between Nelspruit and Johannesburg experiencing the club scene. I partied at places in Joburg like 360 degree, Eternity and Nightspot and Canalita’s in Pretoria. My thirst for music was brought about by my mentor, DJ Charlie B and it was through him that I become very involved in the club scene. The experience I got through listening to the music he played, encouraged me to promote house music in Nelspruit.

I started out playing at age 16, doing house parties around town. Later on, I met up with a crew of local House DJ’s called Boot Leg (DJ Ramon, Batman, Damion, Carmen). Through meeting them, we started out a movement of house music, organising functions at various venues every second weekend.

At age 19, my first job as resident DJ was at Club Gig ‘n Bite in Nelspruit. It was here where I managed to make a name for myself as a House DJ. I played there for 2 years and at other functions in the area as well. The club later changed to Ground Level where I remained resident DJ. After Ground Level, I moved onto Blaze Bar where I played for a year. Through all these changes, the crowd was there but it wasn’t always easy.

I became more mobile, playing at places like Keg and Jock, Liquid Lounge, promoting my own gigs and functions. I introduced DJ’s from Johannesburg like G Funk, Charlie B and local talent.

It has been an amazing ride so far to see how Nelspruit has evolved in terms of the entertainment industry. MP rocks!!!! My style of music ranges from deep house, house, hip-hop, RnB, and a little bit kwaito. I love keeping everyone happy…

My followers now know that they can find me hitting the decks every second weekend at News Café Nelspruit where I am aim to heat up the dance floor. News Café has provided me with a platform to show guests what I have to offer and even if I have to say it myself, they love it. Music is my life.
