Choosing Musicians For Your Function
The decision you make regarding choosing musicians you would like to use for your function or event is very important. This is because the entertainment that you choose will greatly affect the success of the event. Guests often comment that the factors that they remember most about a function or event are the entertainment and the food that was served. These two factors will greatly influence a guests experience at the function.
Making The Decision
The first thing that should be taken into consideration when deciding which musicians to use for your function is what you can afford. You should determine exactly what your budget is before you start looking for musicians. You will need this information when searching for musicians.
You should decide what type of musicians you are looking for. Would you like to hear rock music, jazz music, cover songs or original work? This would depend on the type of function that you are planning as well as the type of guest that you will invite. You should also think about what type of set you would like the musicians to perform. Would you prefer them to play a 30 minute set for example or would you prefer them to play for the entire night?
You should always audition musicians before you decide which one are the best fit for your function or event. This way, you would know exactly what they can offer and you can also gauge their level of skill and professionalism. By auditioning them you also have an opportunity to speak to the musicians and communicate exactly what you are looking for. This way, they will know exactly what is expected of them and you will know whether they can deliver the type of performance that you are looking for.
At The Function Or Event
There are a few things that you should do on the day of the function. I always find it helpful to confirm the day’s arrangements with the musicians in the morning. This way you can confirm all of the logistics and inform each other of any changes. It is very important that you remain up to date with everything when planning and arranging a function or event.
It is a good idea to have the musicians set up before you event begins so that they can do a sound-check before any of the guests arrive. This way, they can simply start playing when they are scheduled to without having to tune up while the guests are there. By setting up long before the event begins, you would have time to fix any sound problems. The performance would then be smooth and professional when the musicians do play for your guests.
You should try to arrange for a few people to help dissemble everything when the musicians are finished performing as well. Many musicians would do this themselves but it is always a good idea to check so that you know whether or not you should arrange for any help.
