This way, they can simply start playing when they are scheduled to without having to tune up while the guests are there. By setting up long before the event begins, you would have time to fix any sound problems. The performance would then be smooth and professional when the musicians do play for your guests.
You should try to arrange for a few people to help dissemble everything when the musicians are finished performing as well. Many musicians would do this themselves but it is always a good idea to check so that you know whether or not you should arrange for any help.
