The Underground Electronic Dance Music landscape is constantly evolving. Genres often split through binary fission into distinct sub-genres. Vibrant sub-cultures attach themselves to these genres and the entire scene is constantly stimulated by this healthy dynamic. Techno, Psy trance and drum ‘n bass are all deep-seated branches of this evolution — assembled together these 3 genres cultivate a phenomenal night out known as Underground Sound.
That’s right — Teknotribe, The Imaginarium & Science Frikshun are back for another extraordinary night bringing you only the best of underground under one roof featuring 3 dance floors packed with amazing DJ’s from all over the country.
Come and join U.S for a feast of beats with our guests: The Commercial Hippies (Nano Records) and Deaf Penalty from Cape Town. It’s going to be a night filled with mischief, misconduct and musical madness.
The Commercial Hippies Bio…
The Commercial Hippies aka Anton Raubenheimer and Gareth Tacon started their musical history together DJing breakbeat at various parties in and around Cape Town South Africa.
After a couple years of DJing the 2 decided to try their hand at producing and soon after the concept of The Commercial Hippies was born.
Their first release “Where dreams come from” on Nano Records received a great response from trance lovers the world round and instantly caught the attention of many a psy-trance ear.
Since these early days TCH have grown from strength to strength and have released a number of extremely well received tracks such as “Dr. Freakenstein”, “One Step” and “When the shit hits the fan” to name a few.
After being in the studio for the better half of 2005 and the early months of 2006 they finally released their intricately detailed debut album “If you cant stand the heat, get out of the chai room” on Nano Records and have been performing on the world stage ever since.
More recently TCH have just finished their 2nd album “From Beyond” which you can find online now!
With 9 killer tracks of funked up, groovalicious, dance-floor thumping beats you can expect top quality dance floor orientated tunes which can only have come from one place and that is “From Beyond”

Karana is an initiative started by a collective of alternative electronic musicians based in and around South Africa’s Highveld region, provincially known as Gauteng. It’s a source for high-quality masterfully produced sounds coming from this part of South Africa.
Initially Karana represents the psychedelic trance culture of this region which over many years has been supported by a small yet dedicated number of custodians. But to truly reflect the culture of this energetic scene Karana intends to provide exposure to artists reflecting many angles.
