The annual News Café DJ Competition hosted by News Café and DJSA kicked off this year with a bang!
After receiving over 300 entries for the competition, it proved difficult to choose only 20 DJs to go through to the play-off round.
After much deliberation, the following DJ’s where selected to go through:

The play-offs kicked off on Saturday 26 September at News Café Woodmead in Johannesburg. The event saw 20 DJ’s battle it out for a place in the finals. A high standard was set from the get-go with many DJ’s playing excellent sets. The competition attracted a large audience with over 500 people attending to cheer on and support their favorite DJs. Celebrity DJ Fresh (5FM) and DJ Euphonik (5FM) both attended the event to show there support.
The main sponsor, Miller Genuine Draft, kept the DJs and judges on track with Miller drinks, while News Café sponsored the DJs a meal.
After a massive 5 hour non-stop set, 20 DJs had played their hearts out and it was time for the difficult task of choosing ony 5 contestants to go through to the finals.

The finals will be held on 9 October 2009 at News Café Menlyn. Celebrity judges DJ Fresh (5FM) and Euphonik (5FM) who will also be playing a guest set.
The winner of this year’s competition will receive —
A TRIP TO THE WINTER MIAMI MUSIC CONFERENCE 2010 – COMPLIMENTS MILLER MGD.
Other prizes included:
Gemini DJ equipment, an Allen and Heath Mixer and Monster Cabling, all sponsored by Audio Shure. The winner will also receive a 1 year management contract from DJSA.
