This Jo’burg born multi talented DJ/producer/Playground Magazine agent and model relocated to Cape Town to bring his own special flavour of house and old school hip-hop to phonically starved coastal masses and was welcomed with open arms, rocking venues like Ku De Ta, The Lab, Buddha Bar, Sutra, Monk, Po-na-na, Orchard Bank, Blacksheep, Saints, Fez , Zep Tepis Opium and Mint.
He has also graced the decks at notable events such as the Metro FM Music Awards, DJ Tiesto live in Cape Town, Fatboy Slim and the MTN Aids Day Benefit.
Cape Town’s first on line urban dance radio station — Mutha FM 2005 saw Mpumi team up with Nick E Louder, Chis Klass and Slim to form the A Team who founded Cape Town’s first on line urban dance radio station — Mutha FM.
He rocked his listeners on every opportunity he got , with guest DJ’s such as Rich Hunter, Marshall , Junior Greene, Thulane the Warrior and the list is endless……………
Now also a Global Breakthrough resident, Mamba’s big break was being invited to go on tour with Dennis Ferrer and Oskido, where he played alongside the likes of Dj Monde, Peter Abrahams, Cassiem, Leighton Moody, Mellow da Funk and Dino Moran to name but a few maestros who rocked the Millers Genuine Draft Church Grooves Tour, Which saw him covering 5 cities .
He has also seen his first foray in to production reach fruition with the release of Move in collaboration with USM records and Motswako Underground’s Dj Miggs which is getting serious national radio air play and has been compiled on Craig De Souza and Dino Moran’s Nightwatchmen compilation, currently the young talent is busy in studio on his latest single collaboration called “ Last nite in table town” with international dj and producer the Tone
def junkies Demitri “The Bulgarian”. Presently Mamba is working with S.A’s kwaito producing guru Gabi Le Roux, who’s best known for Mandoza’s Nkalakatha, Tornado and Godoba.
Currently he is in residence at most of the top Cape Town nightspots; Opium Beach Bar, Karma lounge, The Bang Bang Club, Roosevelt, Café Miam, Café Vespa, Cafe Barazza, Julip , Velvet , Bambu and F-TV Café.
2008 sees the Mamba relocating back to Jozi. He has already claimed his rightful place in the scene by winning the 2008 DJ in the Mix Competition with News Café and DJSA. This win saw him tour with DJ Fresh on his “Final Definition” CD Tour. So be sure to be on the look out for this Maestro at all your favourite venues and events.
