TOMY DECLERQUE
The local Techno scene has been developing into a globally acknowledged hotspot, with artists such as Umek and Valentino Kanzyani paving the way and Tomy DeClerque has hopped on and been riding in with style ever since.
A dj from seventeen, Tomy realised producing was essential to kicking his career into the next level and with his friend Zox, as Tomy or Zox produced his first releases that were well received from Spain to Russia and way down South in Mexico. However, it was his single Music Makes Me Happy that caught the ears of top artists. Remixes by Mainframe and ATFC went worldwide on compilations by Ministry of Sound and Pacha.
And like any producer, got that all important nod of approval from Pete Tong when the track was given the ‘Essential New Tune’ of the week on Tongs Essential Selection BBC1 Radio show. His quest as a solo producer began with his release ‘I Don’t Know’ on Valentino Kanzyani’s Jesus Loved You label and won a remix contest of Valentino’s Nueva York. To date he’s realised on Monika Kruse’s Terminal M, Rekluse, 1605, Intec and 2011 saw his second collaboration with Umek, ‘Original Challenge’ released on Cr2 Records.
And he’s only just settling into his stride! Tomy’s South African appearance is a special treat for local techno lovers- this is as fresh as future hot property gets. Tomy will be rocking his impressive LIVE performance set on Cape Town’s impressive party playground venue, Trinity nightclub. Do yourself a favour, come and say HELLO!
